The Vice Regent of Tangerang, Intan Nurul Hikmah, has ordered the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to add more rubber boat units for the evacuation of flood victims in Tangerang Regency. The addition of these boats is intended to facilitate the evacuation process for residents affected by the floods who wish to relocate to shelters.
I have instructed the Head of BPBD to prepare boats at several sub-district points that are prone to flooding, because right now evacuation is quite difficult due to a shortage of boats,” said Intan during her visit to the flood site at Taman Cikande Housing, Jayanti, Tangerang, on Saturday (Jan 24, 2026).
The Head of the Tangerang Regency BPBD, Achmad Taufik, admitted that his office currently faces a severe shortage of disaster management infrastructure to handle floods spread across 24 sub-districts. “What we have is indeed insufficient because the flood points are very widespread right now,” said Taufik.
Taufik added that his team has requested disaster management infrastructure assistance from the Banten Provincial Government. However, the request has been hampered by the limited number of boat units owned by the Banten BPBD, which have already been deployed to other areas also affected by floods. “Indeed, several regions in Banten are even worse off than Tangerang. In fact, there are landslides, and the flood levels are also quite high,” Taufik stated.
Nevertheless, the BPBD is striving to add boat units to be stationed at several flood points in Tangerang Regency. Taufik mentioned that his office hopes to add three to five additional boats in the flood-affected areas.
In addition, Taufik stated that his office is still awaiting the Tangerang Regent’s Decree (SK) regarding the Disaster Emergency Response Status to expand flood management efforts. With this emergency status, an emergency fund of IDR 44 billion from the 2026 Regional Budget (APBD) can be absorbed to handle the disaster.”
We have already drafted the decree, but it is currently being processed through the legal department to be signed by the Regent,’ he said.
