JAKARTA – Shopping at the mall is undergoing a sustainable transformation. Visitors to several major retail destinations in Indonesia can now enjoy a modern shopping experience powered by clean energy, as NWP Property, in collaboration with Xurya Daya Indonesia, officially operates On-Grid Rooftop Solar Power Plants (PLTS Atap) across four key locations.
The initiative covers The Park Pejaten (Jakarta), The Park Semarang, Citimall Garut, and Citiplaza Bondowoso. This move isn’t just a trend; it’s a massive step toward “Green Retail” and national energy transition.
Engineering the Future: 2,000 kWp Capacity
From a technical standpoint, the scale of this installation is impressive. With more than 2,800 solar panels covering an area of 11,000 square meters, the system boasts a total capacity of over 2,000 kWp.
Key Environmental Impacts:
- Annual Clean Energy Production: Approximately 3.3 million kWh.
- Carbon Reduction: Estimated at 3 million kilograms of CO₂ per year.
- Ecological Equivalent: Similar to planting more than 39,000 trees.
IoT-Powered Monitoring & Zero Upfront Cost
The project is powered by Xurya Daya Indonesia, a pioneer in the “Zero Upfront Cost” leasing scheme. For property managers, this model removes the financial barrier to going green.
As a highlight for tech enthusiasts, the system utilizes Internet of Things (IoT) based monitoring. This allows real-time tracking of energy production and system health, ensuring maximum efficiency and safety—a perfect example of how Informatics and Green Tech merge in modern infrastructure.
The Park Pejaten: A Hub for Solar Education
One of the most exciting features is located at The Park Pejaten. Beyond just powering the six-story building and its outdoor F&B areas, the mall now features a Solar Power Display. Starting January 14, visitors can see firsthand how PV modules capture sunlight, which is then processed by Solar Inverters to convert DC current into usable AC power for the mall’s operations.
“Our demographic is increasingly aware of sustainability. This project is our response to the rising demand for green retail destinations,” said Dhawal Doshi, R&D Advisor at NWP Property.
A Sustainable Oasis
This collaboration proves that solar energy is highly applicable to the retail sector. It transforms shopping centers into “sustainable oases”—public spaces that offer comfort and business activity without compromising the environment.
